Temple of Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy ,Halepuram



The Historic Temple at the Halepuram , built Centuries back, where the Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swami's temple is located in District of Dharmapuri , is the temple of Lord Vishnu in the avatara of Sri Narasimha Swami varu.

The temple has a dedicated purohit ,performing regular poojas to the lord. The temple is opened from early morning till afternoon and the purohit stays very near to the temple.The diety is 3 Feet and covered with full of flowers and the silver crown which is really a delight to the eyes.

Lord Anjaneya and Lord Rama are also accompanying the main lord in this temple.There idols are very old resembling the number of centuries they have existed.There is a Sorga vaasal (also known as way to Heaven) in this temple ,opened once in a year.




Thousands of devotees throng from round the world visiting this temple every year. The cauvery river flows at a very near distance of 25 kms (also named as Hogenekkal falls).This river serves the near by regions and is also a famous tourist attraction.

The temple still stands strong which is pillared with rock stones and also is surrounded by good gardens. Fresh air and calm atmosphere encourage the devotees pray to  the almighty and get the blessings from the most powerful God.




Karthigai month is very auspicious for the lord.There is always crowd in this time.The temple also has basic infrastructure facilities like rooms (attached bath rooms) and a function hall  for the devotees to sit and have their lunch.

History says that Prahlada - a devotee of Lord Vishnu was being tortoured by his father. Lord Vishnu in the avatara of Lord Nrusimha kills Prahlada's father and saves the child.

Dharmapuri Sheshachari wrote the Narasimha Satakam - a collection of poems on the Lord.


Reaching Halepuram:

One can reach Halpeuram from almost any where in TamilNadu. If you get down at pennagaram Bus station you can visit the temple by local Bus or share Auto.The bus going to kaatumottoor or Nerupoor will also help you reach this temple.

From Bangalore,One can reach the temple by bus which goes to Hogenekkal
(travels via Hosur,Rayakotta,Palacode,paupparapatti,Pennagaram)

From Chennai , One can reach the temple by bus which goes to Hogenekkal
(travels via Vellore,Krishanagiri,Dharmapuri,Pennagaram)

Distance from Hosur to Pennagaram :90 Kms

Distance from Dharmapuri to Pennagaram :30 Kms
